Avocuddle is a mobile app designed for people who love avocado and often find themselves frustrated with the experience of buying them only to realize they’re not good.

Concept
The inspiration for the design came from Japanese animation, which involves humor, whimsy, "tasty" colors, illustrations and fun characters.

Putting Ideas on Paper
Once I was satisfied with the architecture, I started to work on the user interface itself. I love to start with a low fidelity sketch to understand what works and what doesn’t, and then jump to Figma to create more detailed and accurate prototype that can be tested.
Architecture
Based on my research, I categorized and sorted users’ actions from the moment they set their avocado preferences until the moment they eat their avocados. As soon as I finished that, I was working on the optimal user flow that will help buyers plan their shopping efficiently.

The inspiration for the design came from Japanese cartoons and animation. I used cheerful colors in order to make the app using experience joyful, stylish and fun.

The onboarding experience here is about introducing Avocuddle by using cute, funny and humoristic characters.

Set Favorites
On this screen, users choose the desired ripeness for their avocado. Users can update their preferences at any time.

After choosing the desired ripeness, the users get basic information about that type of avocado, to make sure they’re satisficed with their choices.
Upload Images
Users can upload photos from their devices or capture new images without leaving the app.
Avocuddle will "learn" the image and analyze it, in order to identify the avocado's ripeness.

The Perfect Match
After identifying the avocado's ripeness, Avocuddle will give the user some ideas for how to use the avocado in different ways.
Extra Functions
The reason for including the extra functions is to put the user at the center of the app and give the user as many tools as is necessary in order to meet their needs.
The icons were drawn in a playful style in order to not draw the user's attention from the avocado's illustrations.
